For a band living in Perth and playing down-tempo/instrumental music, capturing the attention and adoration of anyone outside a very select group is a pretty hard sell. Such is the power of melody though, that the Apricot Rail sound is able to capture and hold people’s attention long after the last note has played out.

Getting all five Apricot Rail members together in the same city at the same time has been quite the challenge of late, but finally after a six-month break the band united in Perth this past June to play some shows and launch their self-titled debut album through Hidden Shoal Recordings.

Three of them managed to find the time to sit down with Ray Grenfell of perthbands.tv at The Flying Scotsman and awkwardly explain how things came together, unsuccessfully hiding their disdain for the term "post-rock"...
